Watch them closely

The Warsaw Uprising began on 1 August 1944... And I wanted to draw something related with it. For these people, who have seen that tragedy and for the creators of one film, about which I will write later.

You may know this man. I am not talking about the actor, Emil Karewicz, who is here. (yes, once again.) I meant - you may know this leutnant, leutnant Mądry - one of the main characters in one of the most important Polish films, a film, which is (or only was?) popular in other countries - "Kanał" directed of one of two most popular polish directors - Andrzej Wajda.
And, saying more privately, Kanał is one of the best films that I have seen. Maybe it's a bit too hard, too sad for me, but it's just great. If you haven't seen it - do it. To know, see, and try to understand, how terrible time it was, to see heroes and cowards, great characters created by some of our best actors, like Wieńczysław Gliński, Stanisław Mikulski or Emil Karewicz, or just to see a great film.

And I just love this character, Mądry. In fact he is a really self-confident bastard, but he is one of the most interesting characters that I know. And he is just great acted, like some other characters in this awesome film.

"Ohoho, Parabellum! Przewróciłabyś się!" - one of my favourite quotes... which wasn't translated in these subtitles. they wrote only "That's big enough for you." Well, my English isn't very good, but I think that it could be translated like this - "Ohoho, Parabellum! You could fall down!"
"A co tam za brzdąkanie? Zagrajcie coś tak...od serca" sounds so better than "Can't you play us a real tune, something sentimental?" too.

Okay, let's say a little abut the drawing!
After drawing it I have decided that pencils are evil. I prefer coloured pencils, even for black and white works. I am just not created for drawing with graphite. I have spent three days of hard work to make any effect, and I think that it just... look boring. But I am happy about one think. He is a little more similar to the orginal than my earlier fails!
Hair and the ear are failed, maybe I will fix them.
I have to re-draw Brunner. But not now. Now I am thinking about a next drawing of Mądry, this time by colored pencils, and maybe I will paint a portrait... but it will not be Emil Karewicz.

O godzinie "W" chwyciłam flagę, zapięłam opaskę WP na rękawie płaszcza i, szczęśliwa, z "Wierszem Baczyńskiego" na ustach wybiegłam na "zamawiany" deszcz, do ogrodu. A jak usłyszałam syrenę, której wcale się nie spodziewałam po naszej cudnej miejscowości - wtedy byłam już naprawdę szczęśliwa. Pamiętają jednak.
W zeszłym roku było jakoś inaczej. Słonecznie, optymistycznie, ogród cały w motylach - jak na ironię - rusałkach admirałach, nawet rusałka żałobnik przyleciał(a?). W tym roku mniej wesoło, a o wiele, wiele piękniej, tak myślę. I oglądałam Kanał, oczywiście. Ostatnio jakoś przypomniałam sobie ten film, można by powiedzieć, że mam "fazę", jeżeli o takim "wesołym" filmie można tak powiedzieć.

A dziś oglądałam "Historię współczesną". Genialny film. Tylko... chciałam sobie humor poprawić, bo temat zabawny, na początku się pośmiałam, a potem...potem było już "trochę" ponuro. Biedny Kazik. Niemniej - film cudny, warty zobaczenia. zawsze trochę weselszy od "Zapowiedzi ciszy", która zresztą podobała mi się o wiele mniej.
